Technical Name Stem cell-nanoparticle-system as a nanobiopharmaceutical agent for glioblastoma neutron capture therapy
Project Operator China Medical University
Project Host 陳三元
Summary
Our team has developed a stem cell-nanoparticle system (SNS) technology, which combines precision radiation therapy with cell therapy through nanoparticles. This innovative approach enables real-time tracking of cells, precise targeting, active magnetic manipulation, and postoperative healing. The SNS technology forms a dual-targeted neutron capture biopharmaceutical with neuroprotective effects, establishing a comprehensive next-generation platform for cellular cancer therapy.
Scientific Breakthrough
The team has integrated expertise in nanotechnology, materials science, cell biology, and radiation therapy to develop an innovative stem cell-magnetic nanoparticle complex (stem cell-nanoparticle system, SNS). This is the world's first research on using nanobiopharmaceuticals for neutron capture therapy. In animal models of malignant brain tumors, this treatment significantly extended survival time by threefold, demonstrating high application potential.
Industrial Applicability
The team has combined nanotechnology with cell therapy to create a stem cell-nanoparticle system (SNS). Alongside the established GMP-compliant production line for stem cells, Taiwan's first neutron capture therapy center is now operational, facilitating advanced treatment options. With its more convenient delivery strategy and enhanced efficacy and safety, SNS aims to offer superior treatment for GBM and head and neck cancer patients, potentially becoming a next-generation cell therapy.
