Image input data rate of EU is 3.5Gbps for 5 channels: PAN1, PAN2, MS12, MS34 and MS56. First, IPM implements CCSDS122x0B compression adopting wavelet transformation and entropy coding. SSR (solid state recorder) has the features including (1) NAND flash memory, 512G bits for data; (2) Max 512 files, 4096 memory sectors; (3) Reed-Solomon code and EDAC protection; (4) Image data output via LVDS, 8 bits data in parallel, clock speed 100MHz. The overall weight of EU is 6.8 kilogram and the average power consumption is 23 Watt.

It has executed radiation test and will pass space environmental tests including thermal vacuum, vibration, shock and EMC. EU executes functions of control, compression and mass storage in the optical payload of TASA satellite mission.

Compression IP of CCSDS122x0B adopts wavelet transform with 3 layers, which can be regarded as an abbreviation of JPEG2000. Besides, the IP can be implemented in an FPGA without any external memory.
