Summary |
A Metal-Supported Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (MS-SOFC) unit cell with high electricity power output, stability, thermal-shock, mechanical-shock resistanceanti-redox abilities was successfully produced by a continuous fabrication process. This product can be installed not only in stationary SOFC power system but also in transportation set-up. The core technology of the fabrication process is Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS) technique which was employed to produce desired functional oxide lays onto permeable Nickel-base super alloy substrate.

Scientific Breakthrough |
"(1) Large scale (10x10 cm2) low temperature metal-supported solid oxide fuel cells are successfully produced, the power output achieved inspired value of 356 mw/cm2 at 550oC0.7V.
(2) The large scale metal-supported solid oxide fuel cells are employed as core power generating devices in SOFC generation stack. We had completed the construction of 4 sets of MS-SOFC stackthe power performance test are conduct as well. The four set of 36-cell stacks all shows high power output above 1200 W at 750oC40 A."

Industrial Applicability |
INER has been devoted to the development of metal-supported solid oxide fuel cell (MS-SOFC) technique. From powder to power, we establish a production procedure to manufacture large scale (10x10 cm2) MS-SOFC cell unit by many industry techniques. INER's proprietary atmospheric plasma spraying technique allows SOFC to overcome its traditional problems in structuralthermal strengths. The MS-SOFC power generation system can be installed not only in stationary SOFC power system but also in transportation set-up.
