Summary |
We develop the device for sampling, inspecting, and autofocus stacking photomicrography of marine microorganisms and fossils. Our devices automate the microscopic examinations, including sampling and inspecting of micro-objects and motorized stacking micrography. The device for inspecting and sampling micro-objects is disclosed in this invention, including a three-axis scanning platform, a three-axis mechanical arm as well as two optical microscopes. A targeted micro object can be located through a programmed scanning of the microscope in a designated area, and the targeted object can be a draw and fixed on the opening of a dispensing needle, through the aid of negative pressure generated by an air pump; then exported. The sampling rate is expected to increase more than 30% with an improved product quality by a standardized procedure. Motorized stacking micrography extends back to front sharpness of a photomicrograph and greatly reduce the operation time and errors more than 50%. |
Scientific Breakthrough |
Our devices automate the experimental procedures for studying marine microorganisms, including sampling and inspecting objects and auto-stacking photomicrography. A device for inspecting and sampling micro-objects is disclosed in this patent invention. A targeted micro object can be located through a programmed scanning of the microscope in a designated area, and the targeted object can be a draw and fixed on the opening of a dispensing needle, through the aid of negative pressure generated by an air pump; then exported. The sampling rate by more than 30% and product quality will be improved through a standardized procedure. Auto-stacking photomicrographic technique overcomes the limitation of low focal depth of the microscope, and the image of an entire object can be brought into focus. |
Industrial Applicability |
The device can be applied to industries of the precision processing, automation industry, and robotics, such as micro-automatic dispensing, microinjection, adhesion, and injection of micro-objects, as well as the observation and cleaning on the surface of microstructure. For academic research, the device can be applied in sorting or photomicrography the planktonic samples, seeds, and metal impurities. |
