Our previous study found that miR-1290 expressed in human cells can help replication of influenza A virus. When we overexpressed the miR-1290 inhibitor in human cellsferret model, it can effectively inhibit viral replication. This patent proposes a new method for the treatment of influenza virus using miR-1290 inhibitor.

In the past, the commonly used target for influenza A virus drugs was directed against the virus itself, so the virus can produce resistant strains through mutation. Conversely, our invention uses host factors as a drug target to avoid the resistance of viral mutations.
