Scientific Breakthrough
This technology use MRT system to convert isobutyraldehyde into isobutyric acid with reflux system, temperature controller,back-pressure control system. Oxygen is used as oxidant to avoid any residual,co-solvent would not be used in this process as well. Great massheat transfer efficiency of MRT will easily achieve high selectivity of isobutyric acid.
Industrial Applicability
In the process, by-products are always obtainthe waste would generate as well. So utilization of by-productstreatment of the waste are both important issues to deal with. In this patent, isobutyraldehyde is the most common by-products in production of butanoloctanol,it is very cheap in the global market. In 2022, the demand of butanoloctanol have significantly increased, causing the yield of isobutyraldehyde highly increasing as well. In this case, the application of isobutyraldehyde has become high priority,converts it into isobutyric acid might be one way to consume the excess isobutyraldehyde.
