Summary
The system uses GPS to calculate sunrise and sunset times as the basis for detecting the beehive information. By detecting the change of the weight of the beehive or the concentration of CO2, the system can detect the situation of the bee colony leaving and returning to the nest, so as to provide the timing for the beekeeper to move the beehives
Scientific Breakthrough
This system detects the weight of the beehive or the concentration of CO2. Based on this information, the system can detect the situation of the bee colony leaving and returning to the nest, so as to provide the timing for the beekeeper to move the beehives. In order to reduce power consumption, this system actives one hour before the sunrise and sunset and information is sampled every 4 minutes.
Industrial Applicability
The system possesses modular features and can be built as a single beehive IoT warning module. It can integrate multiple beehives to the edge server, and eventually can be integrated into a cloud based system. Professional beekeepers can integrate our modules into their existing beehives.  Those novices beekeepers can purchase complete electronic beehives directly.
