Summary |
The moisturizing ability of P. nameko polysaccharide is superior to the traditional glycerol moisturizer; the antioxidant capacity is better than T. fuciformis polysaccharide; P. nameko polysaccharide could maintain or increase the cell viability rate of skin cells. P. nameko polysaccharides had the positive proliferation capacity, The ability of promoting the migration on fibroblasts was 1.6 times better than T. fuciformis polysaccharides. It was demonstrated that P. nameko polysaccharide possess the ability on repairing skin cell and tissue damage. P. nameko polysaccharides had the ability against UV light-induced skin photoaging, it showed better anti-collagenase activity than EGCG, and inhibit UV light-induced wrinkling pathways. The research have also been published in Q1 international journals. |
Scientific Breakthrough |
P. nameko polysaccharide had significant moisturizing, antioxidant and anti-aging effects. In terms of moisturizing ability, it was superior to Tremella fuciformis polysaccharides. The hygroscopic ability is 1.8 times higher than T. fuciformis and 1.2 times higher than Cordyceps sinensis. The antioxidant ability is 2-5 times better than T. fuciformis. The inhibitory rate of collagenase was 39% to 61%. In terms of anti-aging activity, it can reduce wrinkle production pathways MMP-1, MMP-3 and MMP-9 expression. Based on the above results, it was shown that P. nameko polysaccharide might have potential to be a raw material for moisturizing, antioxidant and anti-aging. |
Industrial Applicability |
The polysaccharides from edible and medicinal fungi Pholiota nameko, had been confirmed by scientific experiment, which had excellent moisturizing, anti-oxidation, and anti-aging capabilities, and had evaluated the safety assessment. Most of the skincare products currently on the market used non-natural raw materials, compared with natural raw materials are more irritating to skin, however, cosmetics industry in Taiwan relies heavily on imported raw materials. Manufacturers in Taiwan lacks experimence of developing key raw materials. The practical application of this technology might produce market segmentation and increase product competitiveness. |
