Summary |
Mobiosense is focused on developing a semiconductor biosensor based on the field effect phenomenon, in which the electric current in the sensing layer of the semiconductor is influenced by external electric fields. In this case, Mobiosense’s sensor surface is modified with capture biomolecules (ex: antibodies, complementary DNA, etc), and will capture target biomolecules close to the sensor, carrying electric fields and producing the effect. By measuring the relative magnitude of electric signal change, we can calculate the biomarker concentration and correlate to a disease state. Mobiosense’s sensor is also designed to take advantage of existing full wafer processes in semiconductor sensors in Taiwan to provide high performing, low cost sensors |
Scientific Breakthrough |
Compared to traditional optical biodetection methods, Mobiosense's semiconductor biosensor does not require biochemical reactions to generate fluorescent or chemiluminescent signals, and can detect the presence of specific biomarkers by sensing the change in electric field brought upon by the charged biomolecules. Compared to other semiconductor biosensing technologies, our uniqe and patented nanoFET sensor design enable us achieve higher sensitivity towards weak electrical charges on biomolecules while employing standard full wafer processes to decrease cost and enable mass manufacturing |
