Tsunamis are one of the most destructive natural disasters. The countries threatened by tsunamis have done their best to develop a tsunami warning system. When a tsunami comes, however, it is often accompanied by the failure of the power system. In addition, building or maintaining a large and expensive tsunami warning system is not affordable to a lot of countries shadowed by tsunami attacks . In order to overcome this dilemma, this study developed the "New-Generation Power-Free Tsunami Warning System". The goal is that even in the event of a power outage, the coastal residents or village heads can still accurately determine whether or not the village will be attacked by the tsunamis and if a tsunami evacuation is required. "New-Generation Power-Free Tsunami Warning System" is an important breakthrough in tsunami warning. When earthquakes, tsunamis, power shortages, and network shortages occur at the same time, reliable tsunami warning information is still in hand. |
Scientific Breakthrough |
The scientific breakthrough of the "New-Generation Power-Free Tsunami Warning System" lies in the establishment of the unit tsunami source matrix, the solution of the Green function, the acquisition of the maximum wave height of the study site, the establishment of the IIA map, the conversion of the Source-Scaling Relationship, the target tsunami wave height, and the production of Seismic-Tsunami Relationship diagrams. These are the first in the academic world. This tsunami warning system can be operated individually, and the tsunami threat can be known from STR diagrams. Its stability, power-free, and maintenance-free are its unique features. |
Industrial Applicability |
The main purpose of the "New-Generation Power-Free Tsunami Warning System" is to overcome the costly construction and maintenance of traditional buoy systems, and the failure of passing the tsunami information due to the failure of electricity. Through the production system of STR diagrams, the residents in various coastal areas have basic information of tsunami treat. This system is also suitable for promotion to AIA and the neighboring countries so that Taiwan’s soft power can help other countries survive the tsunami threat through this tsunami warning system. |
