Summary
Our team used agricultural waste like rice straws, to get the most abundant material, e.g., cellulose on the earth. By implying a simple chemical process, we can get different types of cellulose nanofiber (CNF), besides this, we can tune the chemical property by vary modification process to satisfying needs for any purpose. So we combine the CNF with a well-known piezo material MoS2, which can separate electron and hole effectively, by using a homogenizer to get a mixed hydrogel. Then we freeze-dried the hydrogel to form a sponge-like aerogel, which can provide strong mechanical support to let MoS2 nanoflower powder will not come out easily. Thus make it to be an ideal filter core that can be used in industrial wastewater or domestic wastewater.
Scientific Breakthrough
This synthesis process of functional aerogel has the property of eco-friendly, easy to synthesis, and has a broad applied field. We can directly change the mixing material to meet different needs criteria and have no concern about leakage of nanopowder, which largely enhances the applicability of this aerogel.
Industrial Applicability
This technology can be widely used in industrial wastewater treatment when wastewater flows through the filter made by this aerogel. It will trigger the MoS2 to produce a lot of free radical species (ROS), high reactivity species, which will react with organics and dyes in wastewater. And the biggest advantage of our tech is that whenever the constituent of wastewater is changed or the policy changed, we can immediately change the formula of aerogel or just add another layer into the filter system to deal with new chemical compounds or new criteria.
