Summary
Our research team proposes an innovative invention technology, which breaks through the limitation that the traditional dynamic balancing method for rotor systems cannot reduce vibration and noise more effectively. By filling a proper amount of particles into the rotor or into the additional cavities, the unbalanced inertia force can effectively be reduced, and more importantly, the vibration and noise during rotating can be attenuated properly. Our team has applied this technology to the gear transmission device that containing damping particles inside the holes on gear bodies. Results show that the addition of particles significantly reduces the vibration of the gear transmission device. Experimental results show that the unbalanced inertia force can effectively be reduced and the vibration can be attenuated when the particles of different masses are properly distributed in different holes of the gear body.
Scientific Breakthrough
This innovative technology breaks through the limitation of the traditional dynamic balancing method, which cannot reduce rotor vibration effectively. By using two way coupled MBD-DEM modeling and analysis, the dynamic behavior of rotor systems can be reasonably predicted and the optimal design for the amount of particles can be achieved. This technology not only corrects the unbalanced centrifugal forces of the rotor systems, but also attains the purpose of suppressing vibration.
Industrial Applicability
This technology can be applied to any rotor systems that require dynamic balance correction, and also has a function of vibration suppression. Holes or a device with receiving cavities can be directly embeded on the rotor systems. A proper amount of particles are filled into the internal cavities or the additional cavities of mechanisms, and cover plates are then finally sealed. This technology can be easily implemented by today's processing and manufacturing methods, and has the advantages of low processing cost, good flexibility in geometric design, little change to the original structure, high temperature resistance and wear resistance.
