Summary |
We have developed a thin-shell hollow nanoparticle that can combine viral antigens and adjuvants in the core and with immunoenhancing factors conjugated to the surface. In the in vitro assays, this mucosal-targeting nanoparticle can be efficiently delivered into chicken dendritic cells and increase the expression levels of immune genes. Furthermore, after intranasal administration, this nanoparticle vaccine effectively triggers the mucosal immunity in the respiratory and conjunctival tissues, and chickens receiving the nanoparticle vaccine demonstrate significantly higher level of IgA and IgG. After virus challenge, vaccinated chickens showed reduced viral load and alleviated clinical signs. Comparing to the 2019 technology, we instead focus on the improvement of poultry vaccines. By using the novel nanotechnology, we aim to develop a powerful vaccine platform that can address critical challenges in the mucosal immunity potentiation and promote the animal health and welfare. |
