Summary |
Recently, cell therapy and immunotherapy became a novel treatment for cancers and many diseases. However, there are application limitations, such as insufficient number of stem cells, lack of stem cell induction methods and lack of long-term cryopreservation methods. Hence, the present invention integrates a variety of technologies including stem cell proliferation, directed induction and cryopreservation in vitro. This integrated system was developed using a systematic and statistic methodology and whole process of this system is under chemical defined condition (serum and feeder-free). This system can expand various type of stem cells over one hundred fold and can furtherly induce to specific mature cells up to ten millions. In addition, the amount of cryoprotectant-dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) can be significantly reduced to 2% in the cryopreservation system. We believe that this integrated system can provide a promising and various stem cell sources for cell therapy and immunotherapy. |

The scientific breakthrough of this technology is to integrate the proliferation, directed induction and cryopreservation systems for various types of stem cells and mature cells. Under the chemical defined condition and in line with clinical specifications, this integrated system can expand stem cells over one hundred fold and directly induce expanded stem cells into a variety of adult cells up to ten million. Compared with the products of major international manufacturers, this technology has better stem cell proliferation capacity, and can also achieve nearly 100% post-freezing survival rate under 2% dimethyl sulfoxide conditions, which is superior to products on the market. This integrated system can be applied in related industries of cell therapy, immunotherapy, vaccine production, clinical trial and cell culture. This integrated system is also suitable to apply in related basic research. This integrated system can massively expand and directly induce various types of adult stem cells (such as hematopoietic stem cells, mesenchymal stromal cells, endothelial progenitor cells and intestinal stem cells), embryonic stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells and various blood and immune cells under serum-free condition.
