Technical Name Non-invasive Swallowing and Respiration Assessment
Project Operator Chang Gung University
Summary
This work is to design a non-invasive assessment system for evaluating the coordination between respiration and swallowing. This system contains a larynx swallowing detector, a pair of submental EMG sensors, and a respiration sensor to collect the signals from the thyroid cartilage, submental muscles, and nasal airflow, respectively. All signals will be collected by a collector and be analyzed automatically by an App.
Scientific Breakthrough
This work is to design a non-invasive assessment system for evaluating the coordination between respiration and swallowing. This system contains a larynx swallowing detector, a pair of submental EMG sensors, and a respiration sensor to collect the signals from the thyroid cartilage, submental muscles, and nasal airflow, respectively. All signals will be collected by a collector and be analyzed automatically by an App. By this system, the doctors can assess the swallowing ability for dysphagia patients without inconvenience and risk of traditional assessment.
Industrial Applicability
年長者、腦中風病人、呼吸中止症病人、帕金森氏症病人等具有吞嚥困難症狀之臨床試驗
