Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor has many merits of high sensitivity, label-free detection, and real-time measurement. It is currently used as immunoassay and device for drug development, such as for affinity test of Biosimilar drug. Because of its high sensitivity, it has been recognized as the next-generation cancer cell assay. However, its high price tag and expansive chips are the barrier for such development. This patent proposed an innovative design of surface plasmon resonance biosensor. Utilizing a design of a free-form prism and a complementary optical system, the SPR biosensor has the potential to be developed as a medical device, which is compact, low cost, yet highly sensitive to answer the high demanding of modern medical detection. |
