Summary |
Falls are the leading cause of unintentional deaths and a leading cause of injuries of the population over the age of 65 in many industrial countries. Many older individuals live alone. Therefore, if they fall, they may not be able to obtain immedicate medical attention. Although some fall detection devices have been developed to provide alarms after falls, the damages resulted from falls have been occurred. We provide a wearable device (or detecting algorithms), through multi-sensor measurements of movement characteristics to set individualized parameters, can immediately detect the user’s action state and fall initiation (before the fall impact). In addition, at the detection of fall initiation, a protection device will be trigger to prevent fall injuries. This technology can also be used to instantly detect user’s activities of daily living (such as movement stability), providing necessary care or medical treatment. |
