Summary |
The new photocatalytic intermediate water splitting reaction generating H2 and H2O2, which can be separated promptly, are used for energy supply and removal of organics in contaminated water, respectively. A photoactive nanoreactor (Pd@TiO2)-based H2/H2O2 generator (15 L/day) with a high conversion can provide enough drinking water for a family. A indoor lamp with H2 generation is also presented. |
Scientific Breakthrough |
The multifunction H2O2/H2 generator (via the PIWS reaction) using the photoactive nanoreactor (Pd@TiO2) can produce promptly separated H2O2 aqueous solution and H2 gas. The former can be used to clean up organic-contaminated water for drinking water, and the latter can be used as fuel. This easy-operation, low-cost generator (15 L/) can provide clean water for a low-income family. |
Industrial Applicability |
The multifunction H2O2/H2 generator using the photoactive nanoreactor (Pd@TiO2) can produce promptly separated H2O2 aqueous solution and H2 gas. The former can be used to clean up organic-contaminated water for drinking water, and the latter can be used as fuel. This easy-operation, low-cost generator providing clean water would have a promising application and high business competitiveness. |
