Summary |
1. We collect a dataset consisting of over 10 thousand articles and 80 thousand users from a major platform in Taiwan. 2. We provide analysis to distinguish professional users by behavioral characteristics. 3. We verify the identified users by manually checking the published content. 4. This work can help understand the propagation of online political messages and potential manipulation. |
Scientific Breakthrough |
This research uses information technologies and data analysis to realize whether particular users correspond to the characteristics of professional online users. Starting from the political preference and the response time of users on the most significant social forum in Taiwan, we identify certain users with such features. We hope to understand public opinion propagation and its path through scientific research. |
Industrial Applicability |
This research conducts a long-term observation of a social forum in Taiwan. We successfully identified potential professional users according to distinctive characteristics. As information manipulation has been an essential issue in Taiwan, we hope to understand public opinion propagation through scientific researches. We seek to provide a generalized system to increase Internet transparency. |
