Summary |
The goal of this research is to use simulation to create a cloud-based forecasting system called an available bed forecasting system (ABFS) in a regional hospital network in Taiwan in order to provide near-contemporaneous information to ED personnel and to EMTs in an effort to efficiently predict the optimal hospital to which patients should be transported based on bed and resource availability. |
Scientific Breakthrough |
First, we re-disassemble "the number of waiting patients" and reassemble to the new parameters for the healthcare simulation model. The new parameters are patient inter-arrival time and treatment time. Second, the new parameters are embed into the medical network system simulation model. |
Industrial Applicability |
EHNABF proposed by our study simulates the system linking with the emergency departments of several hospitals so as to understand the emergency information of hospitals in the network and to forecast and display the information of available beds in the future at 10, 20, and 30 minutes. It is expected that the system could promote the service quality of domestic emergency medical network. |
