Summary |
We developed and implemented osseointegration detection device based on the resonant frequency method by using electro-magnetic and vibro-acoustic principles, respectively. Besides, this realized hand-held osseointegration detection device is noncontact and noninvasive. The implemented detection device is applicable to dental and limb implant osseointegration assessment. |
Scientific Breakthrough |
We developed and implemented osseointegration detection device based on the resonant frequency method by using electro-magnetic and vibro-acoustic principles. A swept sinusoid wave excites implant structure and vibration responses are acquired by the same hand-held device; thus, the calculated frequency response can characterize structure resonance. This realized osseointegration detection device is noncontact. |
Industrial Applicability |
This implemented osseointegration assessment device can be employed in primary stability and daily-life following evaluation for dental and limb implantation. The physicians in clinics, hospitals can use the device; besides, the patients can self-examine the osseointegration status. The supplied quantitative index by the device relates to irregular osseointegration which indicates valuable information for osseointegration degradation. |
